                  Stour Backwater 27thDec2005 at Nine Kingfishers

                                The early morning sun rays and Jack Frost
              Glitter and dance on a Stour backwater
                                And the sharp light illuminates
              An aluminium atlantic adventurer

seven mute swans and fifteen mallards
sprinkle the shimmering liquid glass
of a mirror calm sun drenched estuary
and a distant bell peals out for mass

sharp, cool, sunday air is breathed in 
short inhalations and slower exhalations
sharp sunshine dazzles the glassy surface 
As the ever-brightening sun-orb rises.

And the sharp sunshine dazzles the sharp surface
Of an inland inlet of a tidal haven 
rippled by a slight breeze which tickles the skin
of a long snaking lake of a quiet river
glittering in the morning sun
