It was a big brown bass with a big brown sound
And four long strings and a long long bow
And the small blond boy with the big blue eyes
Held a fiddle with short strings and a small bow. 

And the small girl with soft curls and the long bow 
was afraid of the big brown bass and said 
I can be doing without this in my life 
And the small boy said:- it plays big sounds 
I'll have it. And he looked up and up and up at it 
And he looked up to it and tuned E A D G
