Shoreham Gravel Beach ...
On the turning of tides as the tide breathes in, the water rushes back, cascading towards the ocean and the gravel goes with it, down the slope, in a salty foaming motion Man stops to listen as the gravelling grushing fizzle Of sea, sand and gravel, grunches in the foam And the tide breathes out. And its next breath brings the next wave clambering wetly over soaked gravel Salty foamy water climbs the hill and the tide advances further The tide comes in and the full tide rests While the waves fall back oer the grunching grinding gravel To measure another few hours of a man's lifespan. And the man breathes in and out and the tide breathes out and in and the gravel climbs and falls And the beach goes on forever
