She had put up with over ten years of my 'going down to the seas again and again' , hearing tales of escapades in The Channel and fearing that, if this went on as reported, I might someday be brought home to her in a body bag ... or maybe not at all ...
So, I began to doodle up a Wish List for a floating man-cave, having been advised that if I searched enough for a suitable shed ... it would find ME ...

A 'shed' according to my dictionary is a one-storeyed shelter consisting of a roof, with some all or no sides open and used as storage or as a workshop etc.

"Mancave" was coined in 1992 and developed in "Men Are From Mars". Its meanings and inferences are already under debate among internet pedants. One could knock up a nice Venn diagram or even a PhD thesis connecting 'boaters', 'sheds', 'man caves' and 'canals' and maybe one already has. I have not yet come across 'FemCave' in the wild ... but dozens, scores, hundreds even ... are known to exist in the "Longest Friendliest Village in England".
