Some ideas for future artistic development on Pentargon
wabi sabi commenced by examining possible designs and concepts before plumping for something which would reflect the blue and white geometric wrap seen on a boat at Uxbridge. The three dimensional concept echos the DPD logo and also an art project I did sixty years ago. The Uxbridge example, while striking, was too regimented and rigid, not appropriate to the laid-back life which most boaters consider nirvana: a place of perfect peace and happiness, a state of enlightenment from where a person's individual desires and suffering go off-grid.
I also thought I should to achieve a paint scheme that echoed the original colours of the boat as I first saw it in 2012. That scheme, much faded, was dark blue, light blue, white which is the same palette as used on the Uxbridge boat. A building I came across a building with a "random brick" finish, and the colours were: dark blue, light blue, white. I reckoned this concept would work below gunnel level to alleviate the boredom of acres of white.
Acres of white? I hate blacking and I hate black. There would be no black on my boat. But acres of white is boring so it was a delight to be inspired by a Peterborough school which had dealt with my needs.
