Start with a bottle of Demerara Overproof Rum, a kettle to boil water in and a gas ring to boil it on. You also need proper cocoa powder and real Demerara Sugar. Fine bone-china mugs are nice for visitors but you can use washed jam-jars.

Into the mug, spoon some demerara sugar, some cocoa powder and a soupçon of ground cinnamon. Mix in a measure of rum with a FORK and stir til you got a smooth paste.
Stir in 50 ml. of cream or milk til smooth. Fill the mug with hot water off the boil... s l o w l y ... stirring as you go.
Allow to rest while savouring the aromas. Drink with reverence in yer own time but before it goes cold. For the soporifics you will have made it so as to imbibe last thing before going to bed.
